Terolias “Vir” Vestian
Terolias, or Vir to his friends, hails from Cauldron. Terolias believes Cauldron to be one of the ‘Great Cities’ in recorded history due to its rich cultural and historical value. While the city may lack the beautiful landscapes and glorious building practices that many others boast, Cauldron simply cannot be touched in terms of its cultural and historical significance. Terolias keeps himself kempt and well groomed, but only owns one set o more fashionable clothes, which he reserves for the odd special occasion. Terolias is an unbridled charmer with a penchant for fine food and wine, as long as it’s not on his dime. He is proud, yet overly humble. Positive in spirit, though has been known to take certain affronts very personally. He has an adventurous spirit and a thirst for knowledge, though he rarely leaves Cauldron – I mean, why would anyone want to live anywhere else!?
Claiming an ancestry that dates back to Surabar Spellmason (he has the documented family tree to prove it), Terolias carries with him a high degree of self worth stemming from his lineage. He also holds an apparent grudge to the nobles of Cauldron that cannot “prove” the value of their lineage. Terolias considers himself to be a rather important fellow, while his possessions and lifestyle tell otherwise. Terolias runs a successful tourist business, successful only in the fact that it only provides him with enough to live off of and not much more. The fact that a man as important as he must live in his current state does not bother him much, as he considers it a far more noble feat to educate newcomers and seasoned residents about the great significance of their proud city. Terolias knows that true wealth comes from a sense of honour, self sacrifice, and knowledge; it does not from living a life a luxury.
Terolias is by no means content with his current station. Terolias has a string of failed ventures and “get rich quick” schemes and is easily motivated by immediate gains, but will not directly admit to it. Terolias is constantly looking for the next big step up, but upon failing will be content to explain it away as, “deemed to be an unnecessary distraction”.
Through his business Terolias has learned many of the secrets of the city. He knows of paths least taken, safe havens, deserted buildings, underground passages, whom to trust, and where to avoid. While not a criminal, such an act would be below him, Terolias feels a great need to keep watch on citizens from the shadows. If something should happen to the city, his city, he would become an insult to his lineage. So, when not giving entertaining guided tours, Terolias watches. Terolias would never take actions into his own hands mind you, again, beneath him, but he is not opposed to turning people over the city watch, nor is opposed to using information against others to further his own gain. After all, he is connected to the city to a far deeper level than many others; if someone steps out of line, they owe it to him to make amends – whatever form Terolias deems that to take.
Terolias does his best to avoid conflict and maintain relationship, and unless someone goes out of their way to insult his lineage, Terolias is very easy to get along with.
